Informational meeting with the students of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno

The INA "Evolutio" in the framework of cooperation with the UNHCR hold informational meetings with the students of the law faculties and legal clinics of the regional universities of Belarus. On 28 November such kind of event was organized in Grodno.

Jean-Yves Bouchardy, UNHCR Representative in the Republic of Belarus, Victor Shadursky, Head of the Observation Board of the INA "Evolutio" and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of BSU and Vasiliy Sianko, vice-rector for the educational affairs of the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.

J.-Y. Bouchardy noted the importance of informational meetings with students, stressing the relevance of these topics for future lawyers. V. Sianko on behalf of the host greeted the guests at the University, emphasizing the interest of both students and teachers and university staff in deepening scientific and practical cooperation with UNHCR and told about the history of the university. V. Shadursky highlighted the main areas of activity of the INA "Evolutio" in the fields of forced migration and statelessness, and expressed confidence that the meeting would be useful and interesting both for students and for guests. 

Legal adviser of the UNHCR Office in the Republic of Belarus Timofey Solodkov told students about the UNHCR mandate and the priorities of organization in Belarus and in the world.

The legal adviser of the Grodno office of the Refugee Counseling Service Yulia Anishchik explained to the students the legal aspects of the concept of “refugee”, the situation with refugees in Grodno and Grodno region and spoke about her work in the Refugee Counseling Service.

The event ended with an intellectual quiz-storm for students on such topics as tolerance, forced migration, statelessness and the mandate of UNHCR. The game was held by Dmitry Belko, the INA "Evolutio" specialist. The winners were the team “Defernders”, which consisted of Karolina Zaharenko, Maria Solodovnik, Ksenia Ostreiko, Evgenia Romanuik, Alexandra Dakuko, Anastasia Kharchenko, Velina Rozhko, Yulia Krivoplias, Arslan Otuzov.
