On 22 – 24 October 2020 the Autumn session of the Model United Nations was held at the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University. The conference was organized with the support of the Faculty of International Relations of the Belarusian State University, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Office in the Republic of Belarus and the International Public Association for Scientific and Research and Informational and Educational Programs "Evolutio”.

The conference was be attended by the students from 8 Belarussian and neighboring countries’ higher educational institutions: Belarusian State University, Belarusian State Economic University, "MITSO" International University, Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov, Francisk Skorina Gomel State University, Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University and Higher School of Economics (Moscow).

Three United Nations committees were represented at the conference: the UN Security Council (in English), the Executive Committee of the UNHCR (in English), and the UN Security Council (in Russian).

This year on 24 October, the day of the official closing of the conference, the UN celebrated the 75th anniversary of its creation, and the conference was dedicated to that event. Moreover, the conference was held at the sports and recreation complex "Brigantina" in an outdoor format.

The first day of the conference, 22 October, was launched with trainings for delegates at the Faculty of International Relation and continued with an opening ceremony, where the Dean of the FIR BSU, Head of the Observation Board of the INA "Evolutio" Viktor Shadursky, Program Assistant of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the Republic of Belarus, Ekaterina Maslakova, as well as the leaders of the Organizing Committee of FIR MUN Anita Novik and Alexandra Brezinskaya spoke. They wished the participants productive discussions and success in future discussions. Later on the delegates headed to their respective committees and started their work there.

On 23 October delegates conducted lots of productive debates. They worked hard to find the best possible solution to their respective agenda items.

Delegates of the Security Council (in English) were having debates on the following relevant topics: Kashmir issue in the context of forced migration and Israeli-Palestinian conflict . As a result, the Security Council adopted two Resolutions (S_RES_2020_1 and  S_RES_2020_2).

Delegates of the Executive Committee of the UNHCR were discussing two topics which were climate change and refugees as well as economic inclusion of refugees. In spite of quite vigorous debates and seemingly unsolvable stand-offs, the Committee succeeded in adopting two Resolutions (A_AC.96_RES_2020_1 and A_AC.96_RES_2020_2).

The Security Council (in Russian) were debating on the issues of Libyan crisis in the context of forced migration and DPRK's nuclear program.  Their discussions also resulted in the adoption of two Resolutions per topic (S_RES_2020_3 and S_RES_2020_4).

On the final day of the Model UN, which was 24 October, delegates met for the Emergency session. During the Emergency session, the meeting of the General Assemble representatives was simulated. Delegates were supposed to develop a single solution to the encountered challenges in a constantly changing environment.

Right after the Emergency session, an official closing ceremony was held. Each Committee prepared and showed a short performance on the stage, and best delegates were awarded for their outstanding work during the conference.

•    Ivan Motolygo (representing the USA) и Mariam Gukasian (representing China) in the Security Council in English;
•    Igor Filonik (representing Yemen), Andrey Senchenko (representing Morocco) and Daniil Lusan (representing the USA)  in the Executive Committee of the UNHCR in English;
•    Alexander Babiy (representing the USA) and Anastasia Schlotgauer (representing China) in the Security Council in Russian.

Awards for the best policy statements went to Caroline Zeniuk, Vadim Lepenkov and Yaroslav Alexeev.

All the delegates got certificates of participation, while the best delegates and the delegates who wrote the best policy statements got memorable prizes and diplomas.
