Results of the Contest of the research papers of students, candidates for a master’s degree, post-graduate students on the issues of refugees and stateless persons "Refugees and stateless persons: modern challenges and solutions", which was held in September – November 2019 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes “Evolutio”, were summed up. This year 22 students, candidates for a master’s degree and post-graduates of 13 Belarusian universities participated in the Contest.
The first-degree diploma was awarded to:
• Natallia Miashkova, student of the Faculty of Economics and Law of Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University, research paper “The legal status of stateless persons in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus and international legal acts”;
The second-degree diploma was awarded to:
• Volha Filiniuk, student of the Faculty of Law of International University “MITSO”, research paper “Deprivation of citizenship as a punishment for a crime of terrorism”;
The third-degree diploma was awarded to:
• Yuliya Mokharava, student of the Faculty of Innovative Training of the Institute of Managerial Education of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Belarus , research paper “Study of the Development Factors of Modern Nationalism: Multiculturalism and Mass Migration”;
• Stanislau Starastin, student of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of Baranovichi State University, research paper “Multicultural approach in the process of fostering students' tolerant attitude towards refugees and stateless persons”;
• Darya Tyletskaya, student of the Faculty of Law of International University “MITSO”, research paper “Prejudice, intolerance and xenophobia towards refugees, migrants and asylum seekers: exploring the nature of group differentiation and possible ways to overcome it through attracting public attention”.
The awarding ceremony took place on 23 December at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The event was attended by the representatives of the UNHCR Office in the Republic of Belarus and the INA "Evolutio", who handed over diplomas and cash awards to the winners.
