On December 2-3, 2021 the training seminar for students of psychology faculties of Belarussian universities took place. The event was held by the Evolutio together with the UNHCR Office in the Republic of Belarus. BIP — University of Law and Social-Information Technologies was the holding place.

The training seminar was opened by welcoming speeches from the organisers of the event. Executive Director of the Evolutio Andrey Selivanov, first Vice-rector of the BIP – University of law and social and information technologies Lyudmila Khukhlyndina underlined the importance of involving psychologists in working with and helping refugees. Refugees are forced to leave their homes and seek a new life in a new place.

During two days 12 psychology students from Belarusian State University and 12 students from the BIP — University of Law and Social-Information Technologies have been receiving theoretical knowledge and gained practical skills in working with refugees and other UNHCR persons of concern. The experts on these topics were:

• Leonid Trishin, Doctor of Medicine, Professor, Head of the Psychology Department BIP — University of Law and Social-Information Technology;
• Vadim Reznikov, Candidate of Psykhology, Associate Professor at the School of Business of Belarusian State University;
• Olga Rubets, Psychologist at the Centre for Additional Education for Children and Youth in Minsk “Evrika”.

The participants thanked the organisers for the event and exchanged contacts for further cooperation on topical issues. On behalf of the organisers, we thank all participants and guests and hope that such a meeting was productive and will strengthen further cooperation between the student community and the UNHCR and partners.
