On January 29, 2015, Minsk hosted the International Conference “Strengthening Belarus–UN Development Cooperation: Results, New Perspectives and Emerging Opportunities” organized jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the United Nations in Belarus.
Those whose lives have been uprooted and torn apart by conflict or natural disaster, UNHCR exists to help them.
The High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) was established in December 1950. The Second World War left over one million refugees far from home and governments in need of assistance to coordinate the crisis. UNHCR was created to help. The founders thought their task would only take three years but new conflicts broke out and more families were forced flee their homes. In 1951 we started with 34 employees. By the end of 2013 we had over 8,000 people working in 126 countries.

Every year International Migrants Day is observed on December, 18 according to the decision of the UN General Assembly taken in 2000. On this day in 1990, the General Assembly adopted the international convention on the protection of the rights of migrant workers and members of their families. On this occasion on December, 18 and 23 the International Non-Governmental Association “Evolutio” supported by the UNHCR Representation in Belarus organized several events within the common framework of the Day of National Cultures on the Faculty of International Relations of BSU.
The results of the contest for journalists on the best coverage in mass media in 2014 of the topic “Refugees in Belarus: a New Homeland” were summed up. The Contest was held in May—November 2014 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes “Evolutio” with the support of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus.
The results of the contest of the works of students, candidates for a master’s degree, post-graduate students “Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons in Contemporary World”, which was held in September—November 2014 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes “Evolutio”, have been summed up.
International Statelessness Conference was held in Minsk on 2 December.
November 12-15, 2014 Model United Nations was held on the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University. For today this activity has become regular and gathers every half a year around 100 students from different BSU Faculties and other Universities. This time Model UN was held with the support of the FIR BSU and INA «Evolutio».
On October 30, 2014 the Section «Migration, Refugees and Tolerance Issues in Contemporary World» was held in the framework of the XIII International Scientific Conference «Belarus in Contemporary World». The event was conducted jointly by the UNHCR Office in the Republic of Belarus, the Faculty of International Relations of BSU and the International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes «Evolutio».
