On October 28, 2014 press briefing with Jean Yves Bouchardy, UNHCR Representative in the Republic of Belarus, and Aleksey Begun, Head of the Department on Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus, took place at the Faculty of International Relation of Belarusian State University. Representatives of the inforamtion agency Belta, Belarusian radio, newspapers "SB-Belarus Segodnia", “Minskaya prauda”, “Na strazhe”, “Komsomolskaya Pravda”, “Vecherniy Minsk”, “Nastaunitskaya Gazeta”, as well as the BSU Newspaper “Universitet” were present at the event. The press-briefing was organized by the International Non-Governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes “Evolutio”.

This Friday is #UNDay and we are celebrating the many ways the United Nations makes a difference to people all over the world.
The United Nations is needed more than ever at this time of multiple crises. Poverty, disease, terrorism, discrimination and climate change are exacting a heavy toll. Millions of people continue to suffer deplorable exploitation through bonded labour, human trafficking, sexual slavery or unsafe conditions in factories, fields and mines. The global economy remains an uneven playing field.
The founding of the United Nations was a solemn pledge to the world’s people to end such assaults on human dignity, and lead the way to a better future. There have been painful setbacks, and there is much work ahead to realize the Charter’s vision. But we can take heart from our achievements.
On October 23, 2014 UNHCR Representation in Belarus in cooperation with the Belarusian Red Cross Society organized the second workshop devoted to provision of assistance to the Ukrainian nationals arriving to Belarus. The event was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Healthcare, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Belarus, as well as the International Organization for Migration in Belarus (IOM), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Belarusian Movement of Medical Workers. The participants confirmed their readiness to continue their activities on assistance to the Ukrainian nationals and discussed further steps to be taken in this direction. It was agreed to organize a follow-up meeting in December 2014 to measure progress toward the set-up targets.
On 16 October, 2014 a regular round table for the «Young friends of the Police» brigades commanders was held at the Centre of Supplementary Instruction for Children and Youth «Evrika». The event was visited by the pupils from 23 schools in Frunzenski district.

On 14-15 October 2014 the seminar «Interpreting in Refugee Context» was held in the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Belarus. The event was organized within the framework of the project «Asylum Systems Quality Initiative in Eastern Europe and South Caucasus». The representatives of the Department on Citizenship and Migration of the MIA of Belarus (DCM), UNHCR, non-governmental organizations as well as the interpreters who provide interpretation during the refugee status determination procedure participated in the seminar. Gladys MacPherson, the International RSD Consultant, as well as lecturers of Belarusian State University were invited to participate in the event as experts in the considered topic. The seminar was held on the basis of the International Center of training, retraining and advanced training in the sphere of migration and combating human trafficking of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
On 9 October at the Faculty of International Relations was held the meeting of the 3rd year International Relations students specializing in the “International Organisations” with the representatives of the UN system representatives in Belarus. Victor Radivinovski, Head of the UN Department of Public Information (DPI) at the UN representation in the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Vlaskin, Public Information Specialist at the UNDP Representation in Belarus, Aliaksandr Velikarodnau, Programme Associate at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees representation in Belarus, and Maria Nekrashevich, Project Coordinator Assistant at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) representation in Belarus attended the meeting.
On October 30, 2014 the XIII International Scientific Conference «Belarus in Contemporary World» will take place on the Faculty of International Relations of BSU. Work of the Section «Migration, Refugees and Tolerance Issues in Contemporary World» is planned in the framework of the conference. The event is organized jointly by the Faculty of International Relations of BSU and the International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes «Evolutio» with the UNHCR support.
